Has anyone found a solution to help the person they care for change channels on the TV or found a radio with big easy to press buttons? Mum is in a home so hasn’t got a partner there all the time. She is now struggling to change channel on the remote. The simple remotes I’ve seen seem to just have up and down buttons for changing channel which make changing between BBC1 and BBC4 (on channel 9) hopeless so she has a normal remote but the buttons are small and close together. She has to call for a carer to put the radio on.

TV remote control
Hi Messier. My dad had a hard time with the remote specially clicking random buttons and getting into endless menus. We tried painting the important buttons and that helped some. For example painting the little "exit" button red to get out of the menus, green for "ok"..
hi. My mum has one of the remotes with big buttons and has to use the channel arrow buttons until she finds what she wants. It’s not ideal but it allows a level of independence. For a radio, she has an Alexa and uses voice control to switch it on. She’s in her own home so not sure whether this is possible in a care home. Good luck
We use these—bump stickers in different colors. White for her black remote, square for volume up, circle for down, etc.

My Dad had a visit from his Speech and Language therapist a while ago and they referred him for a remote control device that is a bigger than a normal remote control. It has 5 bigger buttons with his favourite channels on so whichever he presses it will go onto something he likes.
