The best things in life, are the people we love, the places we’ve been, and the memories we’ve made along the way. My Momma has gained her wings, and is whole again.

She was beautiful. But not cover model beautiful like an ad in a magazine —- she was beautiful from the inside out … the way she made people feel, her authenticity, her genuine tenderness, and listening ear.

I told her over and over again this week, how very proud of her that I was. She taught by example in her daily life —- how to love people, and make a difference in the lives she touched along the way. She smiled … humbled.

Thank you to everyone that has poured into my soul over the years. Deep gratitude for each of you. Rest easy my Queen.

Kim, thank you and your Mama too for sharing your journey and stories. I can tell, even without meeting either one of you, what a remarkable woman your Mom was.Even though she has now received her angel wings, she is still here, through you. I can tell you are very much like your Mama.

Your story has taught me so much about love and it’s many facets, the joys and heartbreak, the challenges and the blessings. I’ve grown as a person, as a patient with mounting challenges and as the mom in a story that will be much like yours. Your posts and beautiful pictures have gracefully told both of your stories.

Now, as you go forward alone, I wish you peace.

Dearest Kim, I am so sorry to hear this news. May your lovely Mum rest in peace, finally free from this evil illness.

Now comes the really hard bit of your journey. Enjoy the little bubble of numbness while it lasts. It still will be every minute or second at a time. People will tell you what you should be doing or feeling, ignore them! There is only one way to grieve and that is YOUR way. Do what ever you want, cry, scream, laugh, throw a few (old) plates around, any thing that gets you through each and every long moment.

As ever, sending you a really large hug and much love

Lots of love

Anne

Dear Kim, I send my deepest condolences on the loss of your Dear Mum. Her smile is imprinted in my memory and will always lift my spirit. I have had to stay off this forum for some time as it was driving me down into deep depression, but I could not allow this moment to pass without sending my love for that smile. Your Dear Mother may now rest free of the trials of this horrible and cruel disease. Time now to care for you. Do that in whatever way feels right for you because the next chapter will test you even more than the previous one. May The Good Lord take your hand and lead you through the next part of your journey as He wraps His arms around your dear Mother. Take care my friend. Sending Love, hugs and prayers for Peace.George xx

Dear Kim, the time came to say goodbye to your beloved Momma but you will carry her infectious smile with you forever. The feeling of loss when someone so precious is beyond words but, if like me, you will also feel grateful that her suffering is over. It was a hard fought battle and I’m sure you will be celebrating her life in a special way when you say your final goodbye. Rest up as much as you are able as you begin your grieving, do it your way and don’t be hurried, it is a special time to recall her life and your special relationship. Sending much love. Kate xxx

Sending you so much love although I have never met you in person I really feel as though I know you and your momma through all your uplifting posts and that beautiful smile that I will always remember your momma for. Take your time now, one day at a time and grieve in your way at your pace, it’s tough but you are tough and you will get through. It feels relentless but it does ease a little with time. I read a great description of grief where it was compared to a balloon in a box, when the balloon touches the sides of the box we feel intense pain and sadness and when we first lose someone our balloon is big and squashed in the box so we feel the intense pain all the time. But over time our balloon becomes smaller and floats around the box touching the sides less often, so we still get times of intense pain and sadness but not all the time. I can definitely relate to this and I think you will eventually but it takes time. Grief is exhausting too so be kind to yourself. Thinking of you lots of love Sarahx

Oh Kim, i am so sorry your Momma has reached the end of her journey. I knew it could not be far away. Now I don't know what to say, but you have both been in my thoughts and prayers all day.

You have so many memories documented here that show your total love and dedication to your Momma's health and happiness, and your ingenuity in finding ways to ease her difficulties as she progressed through this disease, and you stayed by her side.

Throughout it all the love shines through with so many of those wonderful smiles!

Now that your Momma has her Angel's Wings, you have entered that time you did not want to come.

Remember with pride that smile of shear love and happiness on her face, there because of the care you gave her, unstintingly.

Go to your caring husband and your children and let them care for you, and share their grief with you at the loss of a grandmother, mother-in-law, and especially as your mother.

Take time to celebrate her life with your family, and let them help you bear the burden of your grief.

I am praying for you all.

Big, big hug, Kim, to you and to all your family.

My heart goes out to you in your time of loss. Navigating the caregiving with these awful illnesses is not easy, but your Momma could not have been in any better hands than yours, Kim. From her beautiful smiles we all could see that she knew she was loved. May she fly high now that she is unencumbered with her earthly body! You will be in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days ahead.

Dear Kim,

I am so sorry for your loss! God speed to your lovely Mom. May she rest in peace. She is now set free from this God forsaken illness.

I am so glad to hear that she was not in pain these last few weeks. You REALLY did a great job as her Primary. Take comfort in that as you now face the Funeral arrangements and all the tedious tasks that follow. It's gonna be a weird Christmas but all your family will be close by. Enjoy that time and know that Marlene is right there with you. Sending a big hug.

Hang in there.

Dick

She passed slowly in her own time and knowing you were right beside her gave her so much peace and comfort. It's time to care for yourself now, knowing you did an amazing job caring for your dear mother. I can tell she was an amazing woman, because she raised an amazing daughter.

Be proud of the love and care you gave to her and live the rest of your life carrying that pride as this would make her proud. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family during this difficult time. ❤️

Dear Kim

It’s so hard to find the right words at these times but these few words come from my heart.

You gave your mum the best gift of all, your unconditional love throughout her illness, you were with her every step of the way always finding something new to brighten her day, putting your own life on hold. Out of an ugly disease you created a beautiful story, a story you shared with us, which I have no doubt inspired so many on this forum.

Much respect and love to you, Kim.

Kim ,

I am so sorry your time with your mother has come to an end. You really were the best daughter and you wrung every ounce of happiness out of these last few years. You could do no more. We have all loved hearing about your days and how you still managed to see the positive and have fun with her. We will miss her (and you)......

Love Richard

Tribute to Kim and the heroes who were, are and will be by the side of the patients and decided to help them by giving part of their lives. The heroes are also here and they make, despite the misfortunes, that this World is more habitable.
