Does anyone have experience with Ayurvera treatment for PSP. My father in law found some places in India that are offering Ayurvera treatment for PSP. He is looking at these places aryavaidyasala.com/ vaidyaratnammooss.com/ as well as some other independent practitioners.

My wife was diagnosed with PSP in 2014 and was treated by modern medicine ever since. On the advice of some friends and elders, we have tried Ayurveda at two places for two months each. Even though she was feeling good during the treatment like panch karma, siro vasthi etc, these minor improvements vanished once we left the ayurveda nursing home. So my advice is not to try as PSP is not curable as of now. We know she is now being fed through PEG tube as her vocal chords are not fully functional. But we dont know how lomg she can survive without developing other complications. Her cognitive skills are intact, that is a great relief.

Thanks for your frank repply. I fear it is hard for my father in law to accept the idea of not finding a cure. Do you mind sharing with me which ayurvera nursing home you used? This is such a harsh reality to process as you have to deal with ongoing dwterioration if your loved one.

I read a paper in GoogleScholar from someone at Kings College in London. He mentioned that researchers were highly interested in the neuroinflammation associated with these type diseases. He wrote that western medicine doesn't have much useful to address neuroinflammation, but perhaps Ayurveda would have more effective treatments. Perhaps treating the overall disease pathology isn't a realistic expectation, but there could be some symptom relief that western medicine doesn't offer.

My husband was diagnosed with PSP in 2019 and we tried Ayurveda stay-in program at Ayur Vaidya Sala Kerala twice in a span of 8 months. All the oil therapies along with oral medicines were used. He stayed there for 3 weeks each time, and we took the oral medicines for 2 years as recommended by the doctors in Ayur Vaidya Sala. Sad to say that it did not help him. PSP is too fierce to be tamed by Ayurveda.

Thanks for all your responses. I have forwarded them to my father-in-law. He is in the process of consulting with different Ayurveda doctors in California as well as other specialists in Kerala. As soon as I have more info I will post it to share will everyone.

I know what you mean by he is desperately looking for a cure. My loved one did that too from 2015 until 2021. Trying everything therpy, homeopathic remedies, medications. She now regrets that she didn't spend more time enjoying the independence she had. So please share with your father in law don't wait until things get worse to live as much as he can while he can. I tried reasoning with my loved one but she was hell bent on beating this disease. This disease by far is the worst I've ever seen. God Bless you all!

Sorry to hear about ur Dad. I was diagnosed PSP 4 yrs ago, aged 76, and instantly started a program of therapies, targeted exercise, much better diet (Mediteranean with lots of organic veg), and supplements. I am progressing quite slowly, still driving etc (in UK). I have written all this in my 'Updates' .... want a copy? If so pls send email address. My friend has just given me Ayurvedic potions - good for brain', etc, as she knows this it right for me. So am taking them for past few weeks. BTW it is Ayurveda, not Ayervera!.... A very ancient and valid system of stand-alone medicine and healing. My advice is to keep trying things, preferably NOT drugs, which screw ur system overall. And keep positive - whenever you can. After all PSP = Please Stay Positive! Best wishes TIMbow

My dad had a treatment in this ayurveda hospital for Parkinson. It is kind of temporary . He visited 2 times and we saw lot of improvement. You can go through his YouTube testimonies and website for more info. Patient has to stay in hospital based on doctor recommended days. Hope he recover soon .....drpradeepkumarsayurveda.com/
