My mum has been diagnosed with PSP for few years now. She is complaining a lot of pain “cramp” in her leg. She is on 200mg gabapentin and paracetamol. She was very distressed today with the pain . I wonder if this is muscle spasm and if anyone can help with relieving the pain. I have a phone call with GP tomorrow
Thank you

My wife has started on Ropinirole which is a Dopamine Agonist used to treat Parkinson's. So far it has helped with her leg pains and made it easier for her to get up and move.
I experience muscle spasms/contraction regularly, along with permanent dystonia with my right foot. Consider Baclofen or another type of muscle relaxant, along with stretching (minimize muscle atrophy), massage and a heating pad - these bring me relief.
HiMy mum constantly complains about leg pain her doctor just keeps increasing the dose of gabapentin ( she is now on max dose ) I feel no one understands the condition despite me sending all the literature to nursing home, GP etc
I feel GP now is just clutching at straws now we have got to max dose - he hasn’t even seen her does it all via email or phonecalls! I feel it both unfair and undignified for anyone to suffer like my mum, she’s has full cognitive function although due to the change in her speech many people don’t realise
Sorry I haven’t been much help but I’m interested to see the replies you get
She experienced a lot of muscle pain. After trying some medication with no result we came to try Baclofen which helped her quite a lot. Until now she uses it. Baclofen relaxes the muscles
