My Ex is giving up

Yesterday my ex’s sister called to say the end is upon us and she granted me permission to see my ex.

We communicated through squeezing (as much as he could squeeze) hands and eye contact with tears. I brought up episodes from our time together and we both just stared at each other ….. knowing there was always love there…..through each episode, both good and bad.

I didn’t think my heart could break more and yet broken it is….yet praying God takes this special man home where he belongs “in heaven”.

This site has helped me in countless ways.

This disease is brutal and we all know that’s true.

I wish everyone writing here and anyone effected by psp “comfort” and love.

Thank you for letting me share😥

I’m so glad you were allowed to see him and you were reminded of the love and happy times you had whilst you were together. It’s heartbreaking what this disease does to your loved ones.

Take care of yourself. Xx

The sister is evil but she did reach out to let me know- so I’ll give her that. I thank you for your words.

Hang on to those memories. It’s great you got to see him. My husband is now very much in the later stage of PSP, at home with 24 hour care. The hardest thing I’m finding at the moment is the constant feeling of sadness that my partner of almost 53 years is slipping away from me. And having no time frame as to how the end will be.

53 years….what a gift God gave you. The constant sadness, unfortunately, is the torn in our hearts.

Sometimes I prayed God would take my ex sooner and yet, now that it’s here “I’m not ready emotionally”.

❤️sending you ever lasting love and hugs. Yes, sometimes from a stranger who knows what your gut feels could help.

Nice for you that you got to see him, it is such a cruel & horrible disease. My husband is in late stage PSP & can only squeeze my hand as is non verbal. I talk of all the happy times we shared but it's so very hard seeing him now when you get nothing back. He is virtually locked in his body & is a shadow of his former self. Best wishes to you & your family.x

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through with your husband. From my little experience with sharing “happier” times….my ex enjoyed the stories.

May God continue to give you the strength to endure such heartache.

Very sweet of you to take your time to reach out to me. Many never understood that we broke up and remained so close, but we did.

Thank you.
