Just to update you all Tony passed away on July 2nd. A short but rapid decline over 2 years. He is now at peace and not frustrated anymore. And I was grateful for the 13 years we had together. I would like to thank you all for the replies to my posts and the many I also read. As I felt very alone at the start and felt the medical team had left me stranded, and also not helped by covid. Now it's time for me to rebuild my life without my best friend, partner, my rock. Wish me luck? And many thanks again for all the advice x x

So sorry for your loss sending you much love .I lost my husband of 44 years on April 23rd this year to PSP ,we had been together since I was 13 and he was 15 .

Please be kind to yourself the emotions will not only be grief but guilt and anger try to face them and keep in your mind that he is no longer suffering this terrible illness . It is ok to feel these emotions nobody but you knows what you have been through and is still going through so take one day at a time and let those who love you help you through this .

Dont forget you can always see Tony in your dreams.

💔 😘

So very sorry for your loss and the whole experience you will have been through to get to this part. I’m here because my sister has declined v rapidly with PSP in the last year but I also lost my partner of 14 years (and for the last 3 weeks my husband) 7 months ago to a very aggressive lymphoma .

I’m wishing you the very very best for the future. Take each day at a time and know that there is no such thing as wrong for you and your choices at this time. I worried what I should or shouldn’t be doing in the first weeks after his passing and this was the best advice I was given. Just do what feels right for you and give yourself plenty of time to rest and recover.

Wishing you lots of love and happiness to come in the future. Pip x

So very sorry for your loss. I hope the memories of happier times together help to heal your heart. We all did and do the best we can but knew we were facing a losing battle from the getgo. In the last 2 yrs it seems once the onset of decline started coming, there is nothing to slow it down. It seems once the drs told my husband no cure and nothing they could do to stop the progression, he has given up even though we still try and go to therapy when he can.

Seeing my husband of 47 years (together though 51 yrs) steadily decline; well in the beginning of this journey 4 yrs ago I use to pray for a miracle. Now, I pray for his terrible suffering to end.

This is such a gut wrenching disease.

Hugs and prayers to you as you start to rebuild your life. Live it the fullest for both you and Tony.❤❤

It seems we are all sharing in the acknowledgement of all that PSP takes in increments, and then finally all our loved ones have. It truly requires strength and tenacity to care for them. Give yourself a hug. Well done. You fought the fight. Allow yourself time and rest. What else could we all do but love them through all of it. Peace to all of us who are left to sift through all of the memories and only keep the smiles.

Holding space for you entering the next phase of loss. It has been 2 years the end of May since I lost my husband to PSP. It takes time to grieve, readjust to flying solo, and begin to get your feet under you again. The folks in this community are amazing in how supportive they are, not only as we deal with the day to day caregiving but afterward as well. Be gentle with yourself, breathe deeply everyday, accept and trust that you did everything you possibly could to ease the journey you traveled as a couple even if you are sometimes unsure if that is true. We all do the best we can at any given moment and it is not realistic to expect more of yourself. Hugs and blessings to you as you continue healing, regain energy and spirit to move forward with life in a new and different perspective.Kathy
