Can tracheostomy stop aspirating the formula?

Hi,

My dad had an aspiration pneumonia a few times due to aspirating the formula that goes through his PEG-J. He is having a tracheostomy op tomorrow to help with his lungs but also stop aspirating the formula. However based on what I read on the internet that tracheostomy doesnt stop aspiration! Is there anyone experienced similar issue where Tracheostomy did / didnt help?

If it doesn’t help we will basically be back to the vicious circle where we cant stop him having another aspiration pneumonia..

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

So sorry for what your dad and your entire family are going through. He must have remarkable drive and a strong team behind him.
