I'm 58 and struggling. The pain gets unbearable. I wish I knew why. My GP prescriped high level cocodamol. But it didn't help. Does anyone have any advice. I have a meeting with my neurologist in a few weeks time. I'm in the UK.

Pain relief advice for CBD the pain is getting unbearable at times.
Hi Upturned
Sorry you are having so much pain.
My hubby had severe pain all down his back. I think it was part of his CBD but we did not know at the time.
His muscles were clenched and stiff and were difficult to release or get relief with medication, as you have described.
He found a gentle massage from a physio or osteopath was a great help. Normal physio from a sports physio was no help at all, merely aggravated the problem
I imagine it will be difficult to get such help at the moment. I hope you have someone living with you who may be able to gently massage with oils and warmth. Work on the knots they can feel and see if that helps.
Give your body a rest in areas where it is most sore.
Hubby tried warm baths but more often than not, he could not get out of them easily - so maybe take that into account if you try this!
Others have also tried botox in areas of hands or neck where muscles or tendons have cramped and are difficult to release.
Definitely have a good talk to your neurologist as he may have a different outlook on treatment as I expect he may understand your problems better than a GP. I hope he can be more help.
Hugs

Ask to be referred to a medical provider that specializes in pain management.
We're in the US but my guess is that there are similar resources in England.
Wishing you all the help may need or want.

I think you need to determine what kind of pain are you feeling first. Muscle pain can be relieved with a muscle relaxant - I take Baclofen, along with a higher doses of Tylenol. The burning nerve pain can be treated with Gabapentin. Botox is also beneficial, but not recommended for neck issues as this can create further swallowing concerns. Massage, as wonderful as it is, only gives you temporary relief.

Continuous gentle warmth (not heat) seemed to help my husband. We used a Bed Buddy that we warmed in the microwave. They, and many similar products, are available in most drugstores and on-line.

Thanks
Has anyone come across any sort of heat pad or massage pad that can be used in a nursing home? Mum is starting to feel 'uncomfortable' in bed in the early morning sometime which I think may be muscle cramps. She doesn't ever seem to feel pain thankfully - I suspect the brain pathway is damaged. I can only find things that need heating in microwaves that I'm pretty sure the nursing home won't do. Any experience of others appreciated.
