Heres to you! Coca-cola Cheers!

Mom has lived with us now 2 years, and wow has life changed for her. Bless her heart. Prior to living with me, I would visit my parents, and I could guarantee they would have a glass of coke in a glass, can or bottle with every single meal!

Did you know? 35g of sugar amounts to about 7 teaspoons of sugar in every can! And they are diabetic!!!! My father would give me that look, as if to say -- do not tell me what to do ... he was so stubborn. :)

Fast forward, and we have made positive change, and now this bottle of Coca-cola is for special moments --- Last night was Fajita night, and she was smiling as we sat her down for family dinner, and there was her beloved Coca- cola!

We have slowly replaced this drink with everything from lots of water, healthy smoothies, Republic of Tea flavored iced teas! Glucose is under control, and a great A1C!!! (Oh, she loves her cold glass of buttermilk if ever it is in our fridge!) And ... by the way, she only drank 1/4 of this bottle 😃

The little things ...

Her face says it all, Kim, happiness in a bottle. I know she is diabetic so has to be careful but these treats are a must every now and then. In the last 6 months of Rod's life he developed a craving for chocolate and it was always when I was getting him ready for bed. Did I refuse him - absolutely not - he enjoyed it and it made him smile and that was my goal achieved.

Best wishes to you, mum, and your family, as always.

Hi Kim, your mum still has the most infectious smile, love it.

Something to treasure, as towards the end W's facial expressions became less and less. He was only able to curl up the corner of his top lip a little for a smile, but I loved it when he did it.

Cheers to your mum xx
