Ambulance trip
Oh, my, goodness... what a scary experience these urgent hospital stay can be. Hospitals drain the energy right out of my body... but do love that we have them when we need them. I hope you are trying to eat healthy foods & get a bit of exercise. Unfortunately walking the halls is the best we can do sometimes... Sending hugs... Granni B
Hope everything is brought under control. I hated ER trips, especially on or near a weekend. It seems like that time of week makes the doctors harder to get info out of.

I hope that your mum is okay and has a speedy recovery.
Mind if I share a little story? I’ll make it quick.
I have had to follow ambulances several times before my husband’s diagnosis. It became such a routine that when we moved to our new house in a completely different state, the ambulance took my husband to the hospital. I stayed home and took a few minutes to change my clothes and pack an overnight bag. When I started the car and drove out of our driveway to go meet up at the hospital, I realized that I had no idea where the paramedics took my husband! It’s sad that trips to the hospital had become such a routine. Looking back on this now brings a smile to my face because of the strangeness of it all. That particular trip ended up being a gallbladder issue, which we had to have removed, then sepsis followed. After 9 days in the hospital he came home and made a full recovery.
If there’s a moral to this story it’s that we can deal with whatever comes our way. We go numb but somehow we get through it.
Best wishes for you and your mum!

Sorry that a UTI led to such a dramatic situation, hope she is responding well to treatment. A&E trips are never pleasant. xxx
Dad had same thing but since then has had constant UTI its a nightmare im drained. He is going to respite on 23rd to be honest im looking forward to the break and will be going on my honeymoon ...a year late x
Hello how did you convince your Dad to go to respite care. Any tips would be so appreciated. Connie
Hi Connie. I don't know much about your situation but do feel free to share. I persuaded my husband by saying that I wanted to keep him at home but it wouldn't be possible if I didn't have a break. I made it really clear that I wanted him home. He had to trust me.
We had two ways. One was he went in the hospice - where they knew him as he went to the day care every Monday. The other was he went in a care home when I was in our holiday home and I took him out every day. He saw our family but I was free of the basic care and peaceful nights. It worked well.
Luckily Chris was very eager to make things easier for me.
Love Jean x
Thank you so much Jean. My husband has PSP and I do as well want him home but I need to attend my granddaughters wedding and would be away for a couple of days. I told him it is not permanent just for a few days. Well I will see with your approach something might click for him. I will let you know. The time I am looking at is at the end of Oct. I than you you very much for taking the time to respond and your helpful advice. Connie
My husband has been plagued by UTIs . He had Sepsis by the time I knew he was sick. He doesn’t speak or complain. I didn’t know until he got a fever.
His urine commonly has high levels or bacteria, so it’s hard to tell. He just got out of the hospital with C-Dif and was diagnosed with another UTI. I struggle with giving him as much liquid as I’d like. He also had an inflamed gallbladder. When they did CT scans they discovered that he has tiny kidney stones. This is likely why he keeps getting UTIs. Today I am watching closely as his urine is filled with little particles of blood. They told me to watch for fever and push liquids. It is clearing up again. They feel this is from the kidney stones.
It feels as if we are in a constant state of high alert.
Best of luck to you . It takes a bit of time, but I hope your mum will have a full recovery.
