Is it possible that PSP or parkinsons is transmitted to spouse?

My father in law, a patient of acute psp has passed away a year ago. But now my mother in law has trembling hands and other such symptoms. Is she going towards same problem. She is 70 now. Please guide.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother.

Trembling hands is not usually one of the first symptoms of PSP.

PSP and CBD are believed to have a genetic cause which is not inherited, with the possible very rare exceptions. The disorder is not contagious.

Put your mind at ease... trembling hands is something that many of us experience as we age. Ask her doctor if there is anything that will help her at this stag. Sending hugs... Granni B

I do understand that the illness is not contagious, but I wonder if there are some risk factors, which could be environmental (toxins, diet, etc) which could contribute to the problem. Not enough studies have been done but there are some research suggesting links with gut-brain systems
