very negative effects after chewing slow release capsule

Tillie went on respite in a nursing home.

The staff did not realise that she cannot take her medication with just water but needs to take them with apple sauce or custard.

She chewed an antidepressant capsule and turned into a zombie for two days. She is still very weak.

She is still on Dementia medication pending a meeting with PSP geriatrician in August.

Does anyone know if she should stop taking any of her "Dementia" medication

Oh Tillie that’s awful everywhere Ken goes now I take a folder with his notes in and hope that they read it I put stickers on the inside page of it including his alergies his medications and stuff about him and hope that they look at it omg

Thi is awful for you the problem is the staff changes and often they don’t know our people and they certainly don’t understand them

Hugs my friend 💕💕💕

I'd like to add that they (the staff) often tend to think they know more about these things than we do and sometimes ignore what we tell them.

So true! The registered Nurse gave Tillie the capsule with pewnut butter on a piece of bread!! Disregarding the jar of apple puree I had left behind.

And there was no entry in the log even though she rang me about the problem.

But I hasten to add that staff are usually very caring and hepful.

I used a form from the NHS, jik.com/CommunicationPasspo..., that I filled out and kept in a red folder. It stayed by dad at all times as he progressed. If I was out a fill-in carer would have access to his info plus who to call etc. The few times he was taken by ambulance to the ER the folder went with the EMT's to be given to the doctor. Even though I would follow the ambulance I didn't always get immediate access to Dad once he arrived at the ER. The doctors who saw the folder said it was an excellent idea, saved them from reading his patient files upon arrival to determine what the overlaying issues were. I can't recall how many doctors upon first seeing dad asked "when did he have a stroke?".

That form looks brilliant. I am always worried that a career or er dept will not understand the little complications. Does anyone know if a similar document exists officially in the US ?

Hi Caro

Ron is in the US.

odd...I get an error also. It worked earlier today. I'll check on it when I sit back down at computer.

Well I am not sure what happened. Here is a link to the website where you can download the form...

ccc.widgit.com/resources/he...

Just look for the <Download Free> button. If for some reason it doesn't work for you I can email it to you, if you provide your email via private message, don't post your email on a public forum.

Thank you for this.

We have something similar in Gloucestershire which includes Advanced health instruction and DNAR, which we have competed with our Doctor.

Hope this helps
