On a visit to the hospice my wife was introduced to aromatherepy. She was told it has calming effects so we decided to give it a go.Purchased a diffuser and some oils and away we went. She sayes it is beneficial to her sense of well being and also she has tried a little on her pillow at night. She does not use it everyday and needs reminding sometimes.Like others we are willing to give anything a go to try and improve her state of mind.

Hi Acorneater

Yes, my wife used to find oils from a diffuser very soothing.

Ahem, but it was I that kept forgetting!

On a carer's day at our local hospice I received hand massage with oils and asked them to train me to do it which they did. But like Kevin I kept forgetting.

Thank you acorneater

You have reminded me to dig the diffuser out 😊it is still in its amazon box 🙄 ordered it in September!!

Mum loves having her hands massaged with essential oil creams.

Very calming.

Good for us carers too to benefit from them at the same time

Do you think aromatherapy would work for someone who has lost their sense of smell? My husband hasn't been able to smell anything for several years. Just wondering.

Can't see how it could, but it would be interesting to try, and where's the harm? Might make you feel better!

I like lavender for calming, and orange-ginger for happy alertness. Rose and carnation are peaceful and cheerful too.
