Itching and Itch relief
my husband does get obsessed with scratching his head and picking at the table,i think its a PSP thing.

Yes, hubby is often itchy at different parts of his body, and I bought different anti-itch lotions for him, and also moisturising body lotions, as the itchiness could be due to a drier skin. As I live in Asia, the pharmacies here stock different types of creams, and one of those which offered quite good relief is Dermal Anti-Itch Soothing Cream, from Australia.
One major cause of itching could be dryness and stretching of the skin. I apply simple coconut oil massage with gentle churning of the muscles. Most of our food is oily which helps in spreading oil throughout. I don't apply any chemical creams/ lotions, perhaps a rubdown with Vaseline!
Hi Cocodunny!
These are our experiences on a PSP patient:
•Itching and scratching. There are usually episodes of very annoying itching that impels the patient to scratch, producing wounds. The cause seems to be related to a dry skin. Our solution has been: washing hair and a shower with neutral soap (Sebamed-ph5,5) every two days, then apply moisturizer all over the body and special moisturizing cream for the feet. If, despite all the precautions, an episode of itching occurs, we apply a cream in the area where the itching occurs, called "Talquistina", which bases its action on the calamine.
Hoping to be useful.
Hug.

When W's skin becomes dry and causes him to scratch I massage the area with Bio Oil. Hope you find something that helps. Nanny857xx
Where is the itching?
My hubby suffers with itching in particular on his scalp but also body - our approach includes no soap - use Dermol lotion instead. Keeping well moisturised. Using medicated shampoo and Bettacap on scalp scabs. Daily antihistamine with drowsy antihistamines added in at night time.
Even with all this he still scratches and picks at scabs!!
If you find anything that works please do let us know!’
