Itching

My husband is itching at night but he says it feels like it is under his skin. Has any other PSP sufferers complained of this?

Hi Nanaj:) Yes my hubby takes a pill prescribed by hospice 3 times a day to help with itching and sometimes i give him a benadryl at night and that helps a lot. Its awful that my husband feels itching but cant tell me or move to help himself i always ask him if he feels itchy and he nods his answer.

Yes D complains of itching all the time not just at night. He scratches anywhere he can reach until he makes the skin raw. It is almost like eczema. he has some cream which helps to smooth it but doesn't cure it. The GP says he thinks it is to do with PSP affecting the immune system. Haven't tried tablets though - that might be a good idea.

Yes, S is always itching! But then he always has. A few weeks ago, he was literally tearing the skin from his back and bottom, but I have now changed his barrier cream to Conotrane, from Cavalion (not the correct spelling!) and he seems a lot better. I think their skin is a lot more sensitive now, therefore react differently to what they use to!

Lots of love

Thanks, I will see if I can get one of these creams. Love, Jean

My husband also has that feeling too. He says it feels like something is crawling under his skin, and it itches. This doesn't happen all the time, but it really bothers him when it occurs.

I will let you know if our doctor has an answer for us.

Yes, my husband too is itchy - scratched a lot so much so he has scars from his scratching. They did give him a tablet I am not sure of the name - seems to be slightly better but he still does scratch and causes open wounds so have to watch it.

Thanks for laugh. What a vision we had. lol

Thanks so much for all your replies about itching. I will have to talk to our doctor to see if the hydroxyzine and Benadryl are something we can try and will work with all his other medication.
