My wife is in receipt of higher level of DLA, due to a serious car accident 20 years ago. Sadly now, diagnosed with CBD. Can someone help me, where & how to find out if we’re eligible to financial help to make home improvements to the house?
Thank you in advance.

Many thanks for your reply. My wife is meeting the occupational therapist on the 7 January. She may be able clarify the benefits my wife is entitled to.
I believe you are in the UK and I am not very familiar with your health system. In remebering past posts by members it seems you need an assessment evaluation by some entity in the CHC. Talking to the OT coming in is a good place to start. You could also try searching the back posts for "CHC funding" or something similiar.
I too live in the USA (Los Angeles), and I smiled when I read your response. It's interesting how by reading others responses, who live in countries outside the USA, we are learning how their medical systems work.
I think there maybe grants available for adaptations, certainly if your wife is registered disabled you don't have to pay VAT on alterations to make the home more accessible and it's just a matter of letting your builder/plumber know. There may also be charities which offer grants to help with costs. Have you checked whether you can get a council tax reduction? Think you can get one if the house has been adapted but also if an occupant has a cognitive decline you can get a reduction as well.
I think it depends on what you are asking for. Not having to pay VAT is something applicable to anyone with a blue badge. Council tax reductions for adaptations and mental capacity are also not means tested but grants etc I think are, what the limits are I don't know and probably vary. The "useful organisations" page on the PSPA website lists charities that offer grants, whether they would be relevant to you?
