Prism glasses

My mom has PSP and recently hasn’t been able to see as good to text or feed herself. I heard the PSP association would give PSP patients prism glasses to use when not walking. If so, how would I go about this for my mother?

My husband with PSP has a less than 10% downward gaze and has used prism glasses when eating. If you contact the PSPA helpline they will send you a pair. I bought a spare pair which live in his change bag for when we are out. I got those from Amazon they are called easy readers sold for people who want/ need to lie down and read. They were less than £10. My husband can’t read with them on and is increasingly fed but the prism glasses have maintained his independence for longer than without them.

Worth a try

Hello there,

My brother was the same as your mom. I contact PSP Association who very kindly sent us some Prism glasses free of charge. My brother found them very helpful but has sadly declined a lot since them and doesn't use them much now as he doesn't hace coordination to put them on.

PSP Association are incredibly helpful when needed.

My neice and nephew now do marathons and all money raised goes to PSP in return for their kindness.

Hugs

Speaking of the Psp Association- I just want to remind everyone that when ordering on Amazon, that if you go to Amazon Smile & designate Cure Psp as your charity of choice that Amazon donates a small percentage of your purchase to the organization. Very nice.
