Thanks Kevin.

I am waiting for a decision on my application for an Independent Review but honestly I am not hopeful. You already know my opinion on the whole CHC process. It is all governed by funding (or rather the lack of it) and the whole process is flawed because it depends on the opinion or interpretation of an individual trying to save money.

I wish everyone going through this farce the very best of luck. You need help not obstacles in your way.

Sorry to sound so cynical - but I am !!

Hi NanBabs

Not at all cynical. It's a terribly flawed process.

Such a post code lottery too.

The stress of dealing with CHC on top of caring is just so not right.

Thanks Kevin

My husband has just been awarded CHC funding an enormous relief but now I feel I must prepare for the 3 month review . Any hints or suggestions most welcome. Not even sure when this review will be we applied in April and a week later the hospice were informed funding would’ be agreed but it took a further 2 months before I had anything in writing. So I am presuming it is 3 months from when I received the letter??

Hi Tippy

Great news! :)

No, If things are much as they were or worse then the three month review is generally not a big one. All I would do is keep a diary of key events.

Most likely the CCG is too overstretched to do the review. With us they struggle even to manage the annual reviews.

Good luck.

Best to you

Kevin

PS - The key focus of the three month review is to make sure that the care plan is working. It would be irresponsible of them to put a care plan in place and not review it.

Phew - thank you , for the info Kevin. since it took months for my CCG to put anything in place hopefully they will just leave alone now!!!
