We have again been turned down for CHC being told John does not have primary health need. It looks like he needs to be at end of life to qualify. Been a bad week again. He fell out of bed Tuesday morning paramedics called and taken to hospital as he hit his head again. He has an open fracture in his thumb and has stitches plus a splint. Whilst he was in hospital had another fall, hit the other side of his head. A scan was done but no one checked results. Received phone call next day to say what had happened and he has slight bleed in his head. Fortunately the home kept a close eye on him and he seems ok. Have an appointment at the fracture clinic tomorrow. He also broke his two front teeth but no one knows how it happened! With a struggl managed to get him to dentist on Friday. I have to do all this on own as have no family around. Xx

Dear Pauline
So sorry to hear what an awful week you’ve had!! But even sorrier to hear about CHC funding - it is so unfair this postcode lottery . You have my huge admiration for keep on battling for your husband. He must look like he has been in a boxing match currently!!
Sending lots of love and a big hug to you both

That is a post from Kevin_1 several months back. He has taken a break from the site but many of his posts contain very good info. He seems to have a solid grasp on the CHC system and how to navigate it. I hope the link works.....

Hi Ron
I just checked it & it worked fine. Many folks here are a wealth of information...
It is so good to share stepping stones of knowledge!
Sending hugs to you & your family... Granni B
Oh dear Pauline, it seems you are having a nightmare at the mo and the fact ŷou aren't receiving CHC is an abomination, so unfair. I too had no family nearby when Ben was so poorly but somehow you just pull out all the stops and soldier on, doing what needs to be done.
Sending much love at this dificult time

Dear Pauline, you have had a rough time. There is a lot of advice here on applying for CHC funding and I understand what 'buzz' words to use. Kevin wrote quite a few articles as did others which helped some carers. I hope you find the strength to appeal and are successful..
Wishing you and John a peaceful Christmas. Nanny857xx
Thank you have been looking at Kevin's comments x
Sorry you are having such a tough time, it is hard when there is no-one to share the load with, at least you have found this site so have somewhere to vent where people understand
Hope you are able to get some rest over Christmas and get some festive spirit.
Thinking of you both

So sorry to hear about everything you are going through at the moment. It can feel very lonely even when you have family nearby because you have to do all the `finding` of the services you need - no one tells you what is available !
Fight for your CHC - tell them you are appealing straight away and stick with it. P passed away in May and I am still waiting to hear if we have been granted an IRP appeal hearing. They withdrew our CHC after 2 years because they said P`s need was not a primary health need ! He died 6 months later.
Best wishes to you both.
Try to have a happy and peaceful Christmas - enjoy having John with you while you can.
xx
Sorry to hear that, Pauline.
Its a stupid and cruel system.
Poor John is going through the mill isn't he ?
Hope things improve soon.
love from Jean x
