Hi all,

We live in Plymouth, Devon. Mum, 72 has PSP diagnosed a couple of years ago lives in a Nursing Home but we have been told she is now too much of a falls risk.

Looking for suitable Nursing homes asap... anyone know any near us?

Sorry, know nothing around Plymouth. Steve did stay in a lovely place in Paignton, for respite. They had a patient already that had PSP. Happy to give the name if you PM me.

Lots of love

Hello Robtheleg and Welcome to the site!

Are you finding info about CBD on this site? There are more and more members who have CBD in the family on this site now (my husband has CBD) and some of the historical posts are CBD-specific. Let me know if you have any trouble finding stuff :-)

Sorry Rob - very tough isn't it. But you are right - just got to try to make things as normal and easy for them as pos - hard though.

hi jan, this is the message from my niece

"We’re actually fully stuffed I think right now, but wouldn’t hurt her to ring up and ask, and no we don’t have anyone with that, it’s all dementia or end of life xxx"

yes it's horrible seeing her going though this, that's the hardest part and knowing what is to come x

Do a search online. Then look up the Nursing Homes and they should be Nursing Homes NOT Care Homes as she needs Nursing. When you have a few look up their report from the CQC. Read the full report as sometimes they express concern about a particular aspect of care. If you can visit them unexpectedly that is good before you decide. Ask if they know what PSP is and see what they say!

Sorry you are at this point but she sounds as though she needs Nursing now. My husband was in a Care Home and it was full of elderly women with Dementia and they had no idea what to do for him. One woman frightened him as she constantly came into his room!

He wasn't meant to be there for good but that's what happened. I will forever regret it. He died in hospital and that was a shambles too.

Just remember these people don't understand these conditions and I include doctors in that. It is very sad. At least my daughter son and I stayed with him for the last 3 weeks of his life. I still haven't recovered from it all. Maybe I never will?

Thank you Marie. I'm sorry to hear how awful it has been for you. You are a very strong person. Thanks for the info. X

I wish that was true. I certainly don't think of myself as strong. Sometimes I just sit here and cry. You just deal with what you have to? There isn't anything else you can do to be honest.

The people who are truly strong are all those battling with this condition and those who did but who are no longer here. I will never forget some of them because I am in awe of their courage. I include my husband in their number.

I hope you succeed in getting a good Nursing Home for your Mum. Don't forget to read the full CQC reports for any you find. They can hide things which you might pick up on.
