My weeping cherry has spread its pink carpet over my courtyard garden , the daffodils have finally surrendered and the multi coloured frilly petalled tulips have taken their place . The swallows and house martins are back and there has been a golden explosion of colour in the fields as the oil seed rape comes into full bloom .I call it the sunshine crop because even on a grey day it looks as though the sun is shining on the fields .
In the hedgerows everything has come at once with the sudden onset of a bit of warmth ; the last of the primroses mingle with bluebells , periwinckle , cow parsley , stitchwort ,ragged robin ,preacher in the pulpit oh and a host of others . The old saying ash before oak we are in for a soak , oak before ash we are in for a splash came to mind yesterday as I wandered the lanes near me . They have both come out together so perhaps that means a summer of sunshine and showers .
I walked down to a favourite spot yesterday where I can lean on a gate and look across the rolling countryside to Dartmoor, misty int the distance . In the silence I could hear the hedges creaking and groaning as if they were stretching their limbs in the warm sunshine as if to say ,'winter is over ,summer at last' In the background was that lovely summer sound of insects busy about their business and then joy of joys a skylark got up from the field in front of me singing its way heavenwards . Is there a more perfect song ? I don't think so.

Beautiful words again George, I love reading your posts about nature. It is a great reminder that despite the sadness, the cycle of life continues and the nature will restore again.
Thank you Georgepa for yet another amazing description; I can almost see and hear what you did. Now back to Earth with a day clearing my jungle of a garden. Enjoy your day in the sun.
