There is a huge amount of work being done now on diet as a key factor in illness.
I know quite a few folk here know quite a lot about this... I'm a bit of a newbie.
Dale Bredeson wrote a book: "Then End of Alzheimer's" which looks mainly at diet. His book has been well received and he continues to do a lot of research in this field.
Michael Greger M.D. FACLM scours the medical journals for research and he makes his living doing lectures and of course, he wrote a book.
This is his overview lecture where ho presents the findings for the top 15 illnesses from which people die in the USA. The findings about diet are always the same. They are also the same as Bredeson's findings.
There are other videos about diet and illness on this site too.
Hm, I'm always cautious. There is so much rubbish on diet and super foods.
However this guy quotes proper research of illness and diet and he is 'on trend' and it does tie in with medical advice to a large degree.
However only fairly recently have the science folks been able to study what happens to food in our large intestine. There is a small explosion in research in this area and the results come as little surprise excepting that they are now correlating illness to diet in a much bigger way.
But yes, I have made some changes and feel more energised and better in myself.
I actually found that a raw fruit and veg. smoothy increased my energy levels immensely in the morning. So why don't I have them every day? I don't like the taste.
I don't go with the gluten and it punching holes in the large intestine thing... But there again I bake my own bread almost daily and I love bread.
I eat a lot more fruit now and I do feel better for that.
I eat little meat mainly because it makes me sluggish.
Anyone telling me not to drink tea is liable to end up with issues. I buy in good teas from China... Like some who pick their wines carefully. My morning routine is to sip them from a gaiwan and to savour them.
I tend toward the middle path... I will still cook a Chinese style crispy pork belly from time to time, and a steak, and lambs liver. Though I am less likely put chicken in my stir fries now and don't miss it. I have been eating a great beef casserole this last couple of days though... I expect you get the picture.
We're all so different and we tend to stick with what we like when it comes to food. This post is really just a heads up and make of it what you will.
