Syringedriver been in place a couple of weeks. Hyoscine to help dry up secretions created by the terrible coughing and morphine for the pain caused by the coughing. Extra stat doses are also being given by needle as only so much hyoscine can be given in the driver. This must be painful as hubby has lost a tremendous amount of weight. Elbows and knees turning purple today which means the body is starting to close down. Hubby has been asleep since Saturday lunchtime and doesn’t appear to be in pain and is comfortable. Feel so helpless watching decline. Cannot post approprite words for how I feel about PSP. Jxx

Hi Zeberdee. I am so sorry for both of you. Why is it that we appear to be asked to cope with things that are totally unbearable but we seem to get the strength to hang in there? I hope it helps to know that so many people have you in their thoughts. Take care of yourself.

Dear Zeberdee, sending you the biggest of hugs. We have literally just been thru this. Mum passed on the 3rd December. She too had syringe driver and parts of her body began shutting down, her heels turned black where the tissue was dying. It was awful to watch and at that point you just want it to be over so that our loved one is not suffering any longer. It sounds as though your husband is very near the end. Sadden to read you post,it must be so frightening for you.As much as we read and try to prepare ourselves for this point in this dreadful disease I don't think it will be ever enough to say goodbye to your love one.
