Sister with CDB declining

My sister with CDB can not sit still or be quiet. She can't speak but she makes noises and screams all of the time. And when she lays down or sits then she gets up often and walks around. Her tongue is thrusting food out of her mouth and she's not swallowing very well. Major anxiety. The dr has never seen CDB and won't prescribe her any anxiety meds. Could this be a final stage? She's had it for around 7 to 8 years. Not exactly sure She does have a uti right now and we got antibiotics. She squirms and cries. And she screams as if she is seeing something. Her eyesight has been bad for awhile. I think she has psp symptoms too. Anyone else experience this?

I am so sorry for your sister. If she has a uti then that alone can cause her to act irrationally. Her anxiety can be controlled with medication Please find another doctor. This doctor is causing her a injustice. Not to mention what you must be going through. I pray for you to find help.

There are approaches using medications and more, that might be very helpful for your sister, including medications for anxiety, depression, panic, insomnia, pain, music therapy, etc... Massage might also assist in relaxing her and increasing her comfort. And of course treating infections ! CBD, Corticobasal Degeneration, like PSP, has no effective treatment to attack the illness itself, but much can be done not only to increase the pt's quality of life, but to ease their symptoms and suffering. You can enter the name of the illness on Google for example, and find out the basics and the particulars. Any qualified physician who deserves his degree would also do the same . If you do not have a qualified neurologist or other MD for your sister, this is certainly one of the key jobs to tackle, no ??

Hopefully you have phone access and access to medical care in your area. If you need an advocate, hopefully you also have access to Social Services in your area. The phone, if you have one, can be a terrific tool when used effectively. If you are capable of taking action to get your sister the help which is out there in most developed geographic areas and seems to be desperately needed, it would seem that you or someone needs to do this sooner than later. As AVB and others have made crystal clear on this site, we are each our loved ones or relatives best advocate. If they aren't able to speak for themselves, we will speak FOR them. There is much assistance and info here, along with support and suggestions for interventions both pharmaceutical and wholistic that may make a positive difference ! Also suggestions related to 'hows' ,'whos', and much more !

Hope that you are able to get the care and assistance that your sister needs ! Rooting for you ! Best of luck ! On the other hand, luck is always wonderful, but work is what is really effective in making a real difference !

I am continually inspired by the dedication, steadfast refusal to accept arrogance and ignorance, and the amazing and selfless accomplishments of people here on behalf of family and friends.

Take care and take courage please. All my best to you and your sister !

My husband was dx with CBD last Dec. He takes zolft for anxiety and trazadone at night to sleep. If we don't keep the anxiety level in check with meds he paces and shakes all day. His meds help to calm him and keep me from being so stressed watching him pace & shake.

Good luck!
