I too have family in Florida and if it goes farther west , their little island will no longer be I am afraid.

Audrey I am praying for you as are you many friends in congregations around the nation, no doubt the world. We hardly are able to get off our knees when BAM comes another hit....and if Irma doesn't do enough destruction, theres two more hurricanes in the waiting just east of her!

Let me offer up this prayer right now:

Lord there is never a day we don't need you. And we thank you when we are in Your care. But there are some days more than often that we need you just a little ...or even a whole lot more.....these are those days , Lord.....help our dear friends in Tx and now in Florida and all points in between (the islands) to hold you a little stronger as you guide them through the torrentuous storm to the calming water. Help them to know that you are the only thing left when maybe all other things have been ripped away ....Amen

ec, Where does Audrey live exactly...I cannot remember...what is her username please I cannot find it...and speaking of is there an easy way to find old emails. If they are saved, is there a way to retrieve one from say, 6 months ago?

easterncedar profile image
easterncedar in reply toabirke

Emails? You mean "posts"? There are a couple of ways, either through the search function or by going to the profile of the person whose message you are looking for and searching through his or her posts or replies.

abirke, Thank you for your prayers. We live in Central Fl, just north of Disney. Trying to track it now. Irma is bigger than our entire state. Fingers crossed.

Hey audrey thank you for writing...I could not remember your username...or whatever you call it . My brother in law lives in Zephyr Hills, Fla. but they don't think it will affect them as bad as those on the coast. Did you have a mandatory evacuation?

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply toabirke

No, we are in the middle of the state fortunately. But we have huge trees on the property and fingers crossed they stay up and don't effect the house.

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply toabirke

Just checked the map and where he lives is south of us but also in the middle of the state. Wouldn't want to be on the coast.

abirke profile image
abirke in reply toAuddonz

Yah I predict winds at most 40mph around where ya'll live ....that can hurt branches of trees and like you said , you have lots of trees. But comparatively there is alot less damage than those on the coast. Trees are pretty strong I am always amazed at the palm tree standing so high and bending so far and yet remaining in tact. Well thats my weather predicition for your area....You always have a room here in Arkansas if you need it!

Keep those hatches Battened!

AVB

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply toabirke

They are not palm trees but at least 100 ft in height, some of them and the trunks are huge. Hmm, Arkansas, never been there :)

abirke profile image
abirke in reply toAuddonz

Oh you would fall in love with it!!! I am not from here but went to school at a little Christian college outside of Little Rock about an hour east.. We now live 3 hours outside little Rock on the other side of the state (Northwest) Beautiful oak and maple ...all sorts of deciduous trees that love to show their colors in Autumn. places to hike and climb or go canoing...nightlife is pretty good if youre in the big city of Fayetteville...1 mile out of town the only thing playin are the crickets and cicadas...hahahaha. It really is beautiful here....I was just telling a friend about some property B's family had on Ana Marie Island in the gulf....it was lovely....

Isn't it amazing how much cooler your house is with the shade of a tree? We have many trees about 50 ft and they shade the house so well that if it's below 85 outside , I probably don't have to turn on the ac ....

I keep prayin; youll be ok ....I feel ok for you....

I love the change of seasons as long as it doesn't include snow and ice. Keep praying. You have a feeling I will be but just worried about things that should be done outside and not getting done. Like trimming a tree, putting some big limbs somewhere that they won't break a window. They are just laying on the ground :(

abirke profile image
abirke in reply toAuddonz

well gravity will get those limbs as close to the ground as it can. I remember a particularly nasty icestorm we had. John's car was under a big old oak or pecan tree...anyway just one branch left that tree onto the trunk of my sons vehicle...what really made me mad is that he didn't fill out a claims report with the College's insurance....it was thier tree their parkinglot and their student ....that should be good enough for something....

hahahahha omg I am writing this post and a song," Gravity" by Jim Mayer just came on......hahaha...that happened a little earlier to day listening to a guitarist, Stevie Ray Vaughn at a n '83 session with Albert King.....and one of the songs was how Texas was all flooded and the phone lines were all down.....and that was sung some 24 years ago.....well needless to say I get alot out of music.....

Remember to sing even in the rain!

There are a lot of huge trees, those are the ones I am worried about snapping and falling on the house. :(

TY Sarah, Nervous about this one. Its a biggie. Know we will loose power. We have a lot of big trees on the property. Fingers crossed. When we can get back on line will let you know the outcome.

easterncedar profile image
easterncedar in reply toAuddonz

I forget my real name when I'm here, too! My baby sister is in Sarasota...

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply toeasterncedar

Sarasota is coastal which would make me more nervous. We are smack in the middle of the state. Florida is only 160 miles in total width. The hurricane is over 300 in width. We have huge trees on the property and they could go down. Hopefully not on the house. Truthfully it is the luck of the draw. The Keys of course is mandatory evac. I don't know of other areas that might be.

Marie_14 profile image
Marie_14 in reply toAuddonz

Audrey I know the storm is near you now. I am praying for you and Janthenana too. In fact everyone in it's path!

A friend of mine has a daughter in the Keys! She has stayed there because of her cat! She has moved to stay with someone who has a concrete house which she thinks will be stronger than her own. The cat is still in her house as he refused to get into the carrier she had for him!!

Her Mother lives in the UK and is worried sick. Poor woman has lost her Dad this year and her brother-in-law and was then diagnosed with cancer herself. It doesn't sound good either as it has spread to her bones.

Is it me or is her daughter being totally selfish? Her cat will probably die now and if anything happens to her I think her Mother will just give up! So I am praying for this girl who I don't know to survive this because of her Mother. I hope the poor cat makes it too to be honest as she obviously loves it more than her Mother? God bless all of you.

abirke profile image
abirke in reply toMarie_14

Oh Marie, I do hope that concrete house can hold up! What a devastating year for that family.,...I think wise decisions may have been hard to make for this girl and her cat. We are praying for everyone....And to think there is another right behind Irma....

Marie_14 profile image
Marie_14 in reply toabirke

Andrea so do I. The Eye has moved from the Keys now but goodness knows what devastation has been left behind?

The girl I told you about has a housematecand she headed for Miami. Just seen Miami on TV and have to say they are getting a right battering. So God help everyone in Florida. I have been watching this all week and it has just ploughed into everywhere?

Just heard that Livorno in Tuscany, Italy has had a mudslide from the mountains due to rain. Some have been killed but not sure how many. Livorno is on the coast but not that far from Florence. They are closing the underpasses in Rome as they expect the rain to continue. So there is no such thing as Climate Change?!! The whole world has problems if one kind or another.

Just been listening to... He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother! If only we all remembered that?

Marie x

Auddonz profile image
Auddonz in reply toMarie_14

TY MARIE. IF I WAS IN THE KEYS I WOULD HAVE LEFT.

Marie_14 profile image
Marie_14 in reply toAuddonz

Audrey I would too but it appears that a lot have stayed. Mainly because of their pets. I am so worried about her because her poor Mother is worried sick! I don't want anyone to die but sadly some will? Please stay safe all who are there or have friends or family there.

Love and hugs.

It is almost 5:00 PM and the rain is getting heavier. Some light winds, will get heavier when it gets closer to Ocala. Was just on my house phone and got cut off.

Audrey and everyone else in Florida God Bless you all. Stay safe. Let us know when it's over? Lots of homes without electricity and other services. Hugs to you.

RAIN HERE IN OCALA, SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING WORSE FOR THE 24 HOURS. WE WILL SEE HOW THE DAY GOES AND TOMORROW.

abirke profile image

Ana Marie Island is in same area. It's a winter house, so I don't think they are there yet

abirke profile image

Did she leave?

Marie_14 profile image

Andrea did you mean the girl I told you about? Not sure who you are talking about.

Marie x

abirke profile image
abirke in reply toabirke

I think I was talking about the girl and her cat in Marie's post....but it's been a day so I don't know.....

How are you, still smack dab in it...I wonder if you can even read this......that thing , if predicted correctly still has quite a ways to go before it's no longer even a tropical storm....which I hope it' has faded to around your area.....My brother in law lives in a trailer...even tropical force is not good.....

Prayin for you,

AVB

I am in the panhandle of Florida which at this time is deemed to be safe from Irma. But last night and this morning the fore

cast path keeps inching westward which would bring it closer.I am praying for all who are in it's path.No matter what it will be a hugh mess!

I am thankful that we have not had a destructive hurricane since Ivan, about 13 yrs ago.
