Falling asleep while eating

A new wrinkle. Charles sleeps most of the day now and even during eating. Just stops and sits there. Has this been an issue with others at this stage? His eyes and rummy and hard to keep them open.

Today the worst.

Yes, my dad does that. Dozes off when being fed. I have read the same somewhere here as well.

Remembered my son as an infant doing the same.

Yes. Chris does sometimes. He looks just like a baby - sweet but sad.

He is more likely to be alert with others. Makes less effort with me.

Just like us. He engages with some but less with me.

So sad.

Thanks!

Yes the same here, George engages with people that come in, but does not with me x

Dad has been doing that for a few months now, not really like asleep but more like he just forgets he is being fed. He has told me he knows it's meal time just he can't get his mouth to either open or chew. I guess it makes sense, his speech is super hard to understand 90% of the time also.

Ben sleeps an awful lot now and any kind of chat is almost impossible to understand, he tries to tell me things but I just can't understand much of what he says. It's so sad and it has happened so quickly. He hasn't actually fallen asleep whilst eating yet, guess that's the next thing to spring on him!

Same here.Don stops eating-eyes closed. When I ask him if he is through eating he says no.

He is still in rehab now after being in hospital for over a month.Think he will get to come home soon and I am both looking forward to it and dreading it Don't know what new problems that will bring.

My husband has CBD and falls asleep while eating, even with food in his mouth. It now can take ages to feed him and because of this eats much less.

I often wonder if he forgets how to eat because he can't always open his mouth when I ask him, or chew.

He sleeps, with his head bent down, most of the day now too.

Hi

Agree agree agree , all the respondents sound at about the same stage, likewise rog not good today, maybe the heat, sleeping the clock round, lonely life. However i have asked a friend to come over saturday, spend half an hour with rog he will then want to go to bed, then we are going put theworld to rights over a couple of bottles of prosecco! Well thats the plan but we will see what mr PSP can do to scupper that!

Julie,

Yes, lonely and I get embarrased when I talk and talk when I have someone over. And I have friends who will imbibe with me as well. But it's not the same as Charles.
