Muhammed Ali's death has brought back so many memories of my dad's passing away as both had very similar illnesses. As everyone's pain in this moment is processed so differently I can only imagine what his family is feeling. My dad had an admiration for Ali and I always remember thinking of my dad as Ali when i was a kid... #RIPtothegreatest

Not silly at all, of course. Ali was such a presence in the world all my life, I'm sad, too. I remember when his changing his name was such a controversy. I was a kid in the first wave of school desegregation. He lived life very bravely. And it's been just a year since your father's death. It's a hard anniversary. I'm sorry for your loss. Love and peace.
Your father was the Greatest in your world I saw the news and wondered if maybe Ali had PSP (From the BBC "Soon after retiring, rumours began to circulate about the state of Ali's health. His speech had become slurred, he shuffled and he was often drowsy.") - sounds more like PSP than Parkinson's although each case is different of course. I had a serious talk with my dad yesterday about taking care of himself, being careful with getting up, reaching for thing, the dangers of bad swallowing (he has a respiratory infection right now), to keep him with us as long as we can. One day we'll come back here to celebrate a cure, I'm sure of it.
Don't know where I have been, but I didn't know that Ali had died. I saw that he had been admitted to hospital. The picture of him in the paper, he did look as if it was PSP, but I can remember him from the Olympics, he definitely had the Parkingson shakes.
It is perfectly normal for these figures in our lives, to add to our grief for our loved ones, especially if it was a person they admired. It's yet another break with the past.
What a sweet sentiment and memory. I am sure he will be missed as much by his family as your daddy is by yours.
I was just reading the daily news to my husband First 6 stories were on Ali. We then read an excerpt from a new book on young Cassius Clays relationship with this man called "Malcom X" Goodbye Ali.
