REM sleep disorder may lead to untimely death of brain cells.

Thought I'd share this, sounds about right to me. My dad has PSP and has always had trouble sleeping.

Yeah same here, I'm starting to wonder if I have a weak swallowing mechanism too. It's something I pondered decades before my dad got sick.

Sorry, I have a weird sense of humour. I do have trouble sleeping but I'm not worrying about what I will or will not develop in the future.

How is your dad doing? I admire your interest and determination to find something to help him but I told our sons the best thing for their dad is their time, doing things together, making happy memories, helping him do things he has always wanted to do, and laughing a lot which I think is the best medicine (for both of us) until something else is found.

Unfortunately he is now past the stage of doing anything for himself but he does still do a weak humming laugh when something funny happens or he is told something funny so we try to make him laugh on days when he is awake and responsive.

Your dad is very fortunate to have such a supportive son. It's a horrible disease and hard on everyone. I hope you are still managing to do things you like doing, it's a long road ahead and we all need distractions to keep us strong.

No need for an apology :)

After his fall at new year I notice a significant change. He now shuffles where he used to walk. Seems to be falling asleep alot. Struggles to articulate what he's trying to say. He did recover somewhat from the fall but now seems to have slipped back a little bit. He is taking 1 solpadine and 1 equates brand sleep aid at night. He seems drowsy during the day though. I wonder if he gets up and takes more in the middle of the night.

Totally unrelated to your message, but why does your Post name say Mndovrmnky and when I click it open, it's the name, "Hidden"? Thanks for the info. I do appreciate what NannaB says and I hope you are living each day to the fullest with your dad. But I must also admit that we need your input on this site...thank you

Touch your name, and the drop down has "messages". It's pretty easy after that to pick your recipient. Let me know if that doesn't work. This site isn't quite perfect, but it's really quite wonderful. Peace, ec
