Today I did sewing ........... in retrospect I think it was probably a bad idea to sew a button on my trousers whilst still wearing them .

Did you sew your trousers to your vest or pants. But good for you for doing the repair. Janexx
Did you have an Ouch moment? It's amazing what you do if you have to isn't it, and doesn't it make you feel good to have achieved something.
Nanna,
You still are amazing. Everything you write has a positive twist to it. And so loving. Your husband is a lucky man.

Amazing? No, I think I have my dad to thank. He drove my mum mad as when she was screaming and shouting over something that had happened, he would always say something funny that would make me and my 2 brothers laugh, but make her worse. I remember when I was still at primary school, washing up after Sunday tea, I managed to break a glass fruit bowl ( why did we always have tinned fruit and evaporated milk on Sunday evening? ) Mum went berserk, calling me all the names under the sun, saying I did it on purpose ( I wouldn't have dared ). When mum left the kitchen, I was sobbing with my hands still in the sink and dad came up behind me and said, " well at least it broke before you washed it. Think what a waste it would have been if you'd washed it and then broke it". I look like my mum but I'm very glad I have my dad's temperament and humour.

My grandmother was Hungarian and she was very clear that if you sew something while wearing it it would "sew" your brains together (bad translation I think) and therefore you needed to hold a piece of bread in your mouth to prevent this. Now maybe it was sew your mouth together? But we all did that. Can't be too careful.
