Here's a video from Malecare's archives that's worth spending two minutes watching for Father's Day youtu.be/vZ9OW1W3PX8

The video didn't open for me but I agree 100% about telling your kids. This is so very important. When 1 person has cancer, the entire family has cancer. For us guys with prostate cancer, are sons now have increased odds of getting it. They need to be aware so they can be tested early, as we now the earlier the detection the more choices for treatment.

After my formal diagnosis, I called my boys and told them dinner at my house tonight, mandatory. We had a nice dinner. After dinner my wife took the little ones upstairs to play. My 2 boys, their wives and I sat down and I threw it all out there. I decided on the surgery route. We discussed everything that was going to happen to me. We talked, incontinence, impotence, shrinkage, nothing was held back. Took about 30 minutes. My 1 daughter in law has always been shy and quite but she came up to me and thanked me for inviting her and letting her ask questions. I think this has strengthened the bonds in our family.

The kids need to know. They will become your first line of support when the going gets rough. My grandkids provide me with support but most of all, the reason to keep fighting. Tell them. They can handle it, and probably better than you handled your diagnosis.
