Retrograde Ejaculation

Has anyone else had problems with retrograde ejaculation after a radical prostatectomy? I was prescribed Flomax, but I think that only makes it worse. After orgasm I feel like I have a urinary tract infection and have to pee small amounts of urine every 10 minutes, sometimes for hours! I had my prostatectomy in 2007, and this has started in the last year or so. I do Kegel exercises on an irregular basis. Anyone else have this problem?

You can't have retrograde ejaculation after prostatectomy because they removed your prostate and seminal vesicles. You can't produce any ejaculate.

We still produce sperm, and they go backwards into the bladder. Do you have any pain with ejaculation? I have not had that exact problem, but about 2 years after my surgery, I had a bad bad cough. And then I started to have pain when I ejaculated, and it would kind of linger. Incontinence is a rare issue for me. Doctor said my pelvic floor muscles are stitched together, so there's scar tissue. The cough was leading to muscle spasm when I put those muscles to use. You're on to something with Kegels. Could be weak pelvic floor muscles. Personally, I have had better results with a good leg workout (don't skip leg day!) than with Kegels. You're 13 years older than when you had surgery, and the older we get, the more we need to worry about maintaining muscle.

I had extremely painful orgasms that started approximately a year after my RP. It was a searing pain literally in the area where my prostate was removed (between the scrotum and the anus. It made sex practically a no go. Even if I masterbated I would have the same result. The pain would last about ten minutes. This lasted for about three years and then completely stopped.

For approximately the past year, 95% post orgasm I feel the need to void small amounts of urine for about two hours. It got so annoying that if I was home, I would just put on an incontinence pad and just go ahead and urinate when I needed to! Of note, I haven’t had any issues with urinary incontinence with the exception of occasional urinating upon orgasm.

Back to the issue, I void before and after sex, when I void afterwards my urine is always slightly cloudy and has bubbles. This is the same way my urine would appear prior to the RP when I would have a rare retrograde ejaculation.

Another mystery is that when sexually stimulated I still produce fluid that is like pre cum. It is a clear viscous fluid with no odor. It is not urine as the color and consistency do not resemble urine.

If you have had the patience to read this far, any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I have heard about the pre-cum bit before. It comes from your Cowper's Glands. Some guys seem to keep them. I'd ask a urologist about the cloudy urine. But maybe the fluid from your Cowper's glands are causing something like that?

The area between your scrotum and your anus is where your pelvic floor was stitched back together, or at least where they connect up. That sounds like the muscle spasm pain I mentioned. It was very painful when it happened. Started in that area, them radiated up my dick.

You can produce sperm but not seminal fluid. Sperm is a very small percent of semen - only 2-5% - so it would not be perceptable. One can still produce a small amount of fluid from the Cowper's gland, but that will come out from the penis, not the bladder.
