Hello everyone,

Not thrilled to be in the PC club but it is what it is. My Gleason is 3+4. Had surgery, went undetected for about 6 months, then .05, three months later .7, followed by .13. Had salvage radiation, went to .19, then .10, then .08, now back to .11, so it appears both modalities failed.

Were your pelvic lymph nodes treated along with the prostate bed when you had salvage radiation?

No, I wish they were treated.

Maybe it's not too late. 50 Gy to the pelvic lymph nodes may be able to get the rest. A recent study showed that salvage treatment of pelvic LNs markedly increased cancer control. This is something that is worth a discussion with your RO.

Thanks, I will meet with them.

And those superior results were in spite of the fact that the treatment field used in that study was less than what is now considered optimal:

Is .11 PSA high. Would a Pet Scan pick up the cancer?

It's kind of low for a PET scan. In fact, you won't be able to get an advanced PET scan until your PSA reaches 0.2. Even then, the best PET scans would only be able to find metastases in about a third of men (see table at the bottom):

Thanks Tall Allen I will inquire about radiation of the lymph nodes. Worth a try.

They want to do a few more tests to establish a trend. May is the date for my next exam.
