First post op appointment next week.

Back into Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC next week for my post op consultation. My prostatectomy was 6 weeks ago. A million questions to ask but I will probably go blank on the day if I don't write them down in advance! I guess I have all the routine questions around leakage, ED ( not happy with Sildenafil), frequency of PSA and other tests etc.

Anyone got any questions you regretted not asking at your post op consultation?

Thanks....

Ray

Absolutely write them down! And take someone with you if possible. Early penile rehab seems to help some men, so don’t be afraid to ask. I hope your numbers are good. Best wishes.

Yes take someone along for support and taking notes and reminding you of your concerns.

Id specifically ask what are realistic expectations for ED specifically related to your surgery and bundle sparing which directly impacts ability for erection. Also possible incontinence and how to deal with it if it were to occur.

I'd ask about what help they have available to work on re-establishing sexual functioning if it doesn't come back "naturally"; my urologist office had someone on staff whose specific job that was, for example. And/or what help they have with kegel exercises etc. if you need, for incontinence, or where they would refer you to if you need such help. You're really early on, but it doesn't hurt to have some plans in place.... and....best of luck. Watchung 11!
