Pradaxa to Rivaroxaban

I was diagnosed with Afib after a nasty encounter with pericarditis. Not sure if I had Afib before, certainly didn't notice anything untoward but ECG doesn't lie and I do have Afib after, although no real signs except breathlessness and fatigue (could be caused by long term pericarditis) after. Anyway, was prescribed Pradaxa (300mg) and bisoprolol (10mg). Due to side effects the dosages have been reduced to Pradaxa (220mg) and bisoprolol (5mg). Now my GP is suggesting Rivaroxaban instead of Pradaxa because of ongoing GERD. Any comments anyone?

are they still using Pradaxa...., surprised it fell out of favor years ago because of GI issues and bleeding. Xarelto is good, once a day dosing...been using it for over 10 years no problems.

Pradaxa still very popular in New Zealand, every second person over 70 seems to be on it. Could be because of the drug approval and funding system used here. Government drug funding is via a central agency Pharmac. Keeps prices down, but stifles innovation.I'll talk to my GP about Xarelto - thanks

Ah it's the same drug, different name. Apologies for my confusion. Once a day sounds good!

when Pradaxa first came to market my GI had to cancel my colonoscopy that Monday because of so many emergency room GI bleeds that happened over the weekend….there was also no reversal agent back then…..it was the first NOAC released before Xarelto and Eliquis.
