E2 gel

My use of E2 gel has put my PCa to sleep over four years ago. I don't even bother getting PSA tests anymore. I will try to send some back to 'Bidenvlle' when one of my friends goes back.

Hello my friend,

It is always good to see a post from you and know you’ve bobbed and weaved and hopefully out run those cancer cells that have been chasing you around for many years. You are outlasting them with the help of E2. Congrats!

I tried BAT. Worked for about 8 months. Unfortunately onto Chemo right now. Looking into immunotherapy. Keep posting!

If interested, PCF is doing a webinar on Nov. 18th at 7:30 Eastern time US on Immunotherapy. A friend, who was treated with it, is the guest patient.

Anyone know if it's still imposible to get this in the US?

It is possible to get estradiol (E2) in the U.S. in the higher doses reqired to suppress testosterone to starve the cancer. But since it is not FDA-approved, getting insurance companies to pay for it is difficult and finding an oncologist to go off-label (for me at the moment) has been impossible. Still, I know of several men getting it from their oncologists.

I have been lobbying the VA and oncologists for a year to get it, to no avail. But I managed to get a prescription from a sympathetic doctor who agreed as long as I am being followed by an oncologist. This doctor specializes in transgender care, so is expert in suppressing testosterone. It took a bit to convince, but my demeanor, sincerity and he ton of research I had done wone the day.

Instead of patches or gel, I am using injections. Most recent PSA is 0.016.

Thanks so much for responding, LS, I live in El Salvador but my family is in the US and I have a doctor who will prescribe it. But I have doubts about finding it in gel form. Can you orient me a bit? Confirm that it is in gel form? My family is in Las Vegas

I am using an injection of estradiol. Not a gel which is applied to the skin.

I may be able to send some gel back with friends that are coming here in January.

Is estradiol used instead of ADT or in addition to ADT? Thank you

I used it instead of ADT.

The answer is, "Neither". Estradiol (also known as E2) IS ADT (androgen deprivation therapy) IS an ADT. Not instead of nor in addition to.

Agents of ADT all have one thing in common. They suppress the amount of testosterone in a man's bloodstream. That is the definition of ADT. LHRH (also known as GnRH) agonists and antagonist (like Lupron or Orgovyx)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonad...

In 1941 researchers Huggins and Hodges published that estrogens also suppress testosterone production. Won the 1966 Nobel Prize for that work.

Oral administration of estradiol had the unfortunate side effect of killing about one-third of patients. Killed a lot of women using it for birth control, but reducing the dose to still-effective levels largely fixed that. Reduced less-lethal doses in men unfortunately lost anti-cancer efficacy, so other agents of ADT were developed.

If one takes E2 by a method that bypasses the digestive system, that fixes the cardio-vascular death problem. So, administration of E2 trans-dermally or by injection is effective AND safe while remaining effective as an ADT to suppress prostate cancer. And it has a far superior profile of side effects than Lupron. (See the PATCH study)
