Leg cramps during/after ADT.

Perhaps unrelated? I am curious to see if anyone else has this issue. After radiation treatment (no surgery) I was treated with Lupron for 2 years. About halfway through, besides the normal side effects, I developed leg cramps during exercise, even a short walk. Calcium and Magnesium levels are normal. I am now 3 months out from the 2 year duration and still having this problem. Was tested for circulation in lower extremities and found to be normal. Is the Lupron responsible?

You could be dehydrated. Drink more water and take a daily magnesium supplement. This effort helps me with cramping.

I’m not going to get into my list of side effects (that was written by Stephen King) but I got to the point where I blamed Eligard / ADT for every strange feeling (above and beyond normal andropause effects). Most of which dissipated once on vacation proving my theory. And Yes, severe cramping was one of the major issues. Kept hydrated, limited alcohol, kept active as best I could..... nothing helped until ADT ended. Sorry if it not an answer you were looking for but...... truth! Good luck!Jc

I just came across this post today. I've been on ADT (Eligard) for 10 months now with another 14 to go. Twice in the last month, I developed very intense and painful cramps in my calf muscle. The first incident in my left calf lasted about 5 minutes. The cramp was so intense, my wife was talking of taking me to the ER. Thankfully, it subsided on its own.

The second incident started in my right calf, then as I stood up to try to find a position to prevent the cramp from worsening, I developed a cramp in my left leg. The right calf cramp was relatively mild, the left calf cramp was almost as intense as the first time it happened.

Both times, I was sitting in a chair watching TV at the end of the day. I hadnt exercised that day or done anything strenuous prior to aggravate my muscles. I also typically eat a banana a day. I'm in an exercise oncology program 1x weekly try to walk and exercise at home as much as possible. I'm also still working full-time and move around in the office a fair bit.

I have no idea if the cramps are related to the ADT. I also had radiation about 7 months after RP, but I can't imagine those are connected to leg cramps. The only related information I could find on the internet was your post. Maybe a side effect in a small number of people. Or totally coincidental and unrelated.

Best wishes in your recovery.
