PSA went up a little, should I be concerned?

Quick recap, after 18 months, 3 MRI 3 biopsies, the last one in November being an MP MRI guided TPUS biopsy, the report said no HGPIN and no Carcinoma but I had multiple areas of focal hyperplasia (I guess the start of BPH).

My PSA in November was 0.21. Did another PSA this week, it’s now 0.29 so about a 33% increase. Should I be worried?

That is a small increase in PSA. It could be caused by inflammation or irritation in the prostate. Wait for the next 2 PSA tests. If each is higher then the previous then it is time to act.

You should be thrilled, not worried.

I understand... I saw a 25% increase in a 3-month blood test. Three months later it was back down to where in had been for a while. That was a long 3-months.

II'd wait for further readings before coming to any conclusions.

It is a small rise and might not be repeated.

Those numbers don't suggest any urgency but ongoing monitoring is in order to see if a pattern emerges that would warrant further intervention.

Should I be worried? Don't worry.....

Just think when it gets bad for a kleptomaniac he usually takes something for it.

Thank you. I am wondering if the focal hyperplasia/BPH might be causing the increase?

I decided to go this morning for a free PSA test. Won’t give a definitive answer but may provide another piece to the puzzle
