About me
Crappy way to end the OLD decade and begin the NEW decade so just a simple GOOD LUCK. My GL10 came at age 65 but fortunately confined and start the new decade with PSA check in 1 week 1/10/2020 just 7 months before 70th birthday.
And I thought getting a head cold was a lousy Christmas present!
What I'm about to say is what made the biggest difference to me at my diagnosis: This is not a death sentence! The person who said this to me is a five year survivor who has done at least one ironman triathlon since diagnosis and makes his living coaching marathon runners.
I've only done a half marathon since diagnosis, but hoping to be able to do a full marathon in 2020. Great things are still possible.
What a shocking diagnosis! Fortunately, it comes at a time when there are many good medications to knock it back. It sounds like a good plan of action.
Good luck friend! Stay active and positive.
May I suggest that you -also- introduce yourself to the advanced prostate community
that's a tough diagnosis but you came to the right place to begin this journey - esp. as Darryl suggests healthunlocked.com/advanced... - the folks here can help immensely, with personal stories, advice, suggestions, moral support, which is as important as all the rest - people who can pick you up when you're feeling down - especially check out Tall Allen's blog pcnrv.blogspot.com/, he's really on top of stuff
I was diagnosed 18 months ago at age 55 with Gleason 9, PSA 103, multiple mets. I remember the shock you are probably going through now. I read voraciously for several months. I learned a tremendous amount from these forums and Tall Allen's blog. You are in a good place here.
Hey JB, you're taking the right steps, with Chemo and an oncologist. Are you near an established, well-known cancer center? Probably best to go to one, if possible. They can beat back metastasized cancer slow its progression for a long time. Blessings.
Are you experiencing pain? My PSA went from 138 to 2 to 68. Strangely I did not experience any pain. At least no pain that was specifically from the cancer. I am 77 so there are the pains of old age.
Take this as you will but I got some real encouragement from this website ChrisBeatsCancer.com
Hang in there JB. You are welcomed here with open arms and there is a wealth of experience strength and hope for you to draw upon.
