I'm new. 70 years old. I live in Southern California. PSA 5.2 and had elevated from 1 to 5.2 over a 3 yr period. Had targeted MRI biopsy on 3/27/18 at UCLA. 18 cores, 6 with cancer, five of the six , 3+4=7, one of the six 4+3=7. Urologist recommended treatment, either surgery or HDR Brachytherapy. I chose HDR Brachytherapy at UCLA. I had my 1st treatment May 23, the 2nd and last treatment is scheduled on May 31. There was a lot of unexpected pain during the 1st treatment. I'm dreading having the 2nd treatment.

Hello there and welcome to the group. I had surgery on March 19th so I have no advice on your treatment, just wishing you the best. I am also in Los Angeles!

Its nice to hear from a fellow Angeleno. I hope you're recovery is going well. This site is very informative and everybody can relate to what we're going through. My experience so far has been that family and friends are supportive but can't really relate to what this is all about. The shock and fear after hearing that I have cancer is still hanging with me.
My recovery is coming along just fine thanks. My post op PSA is 0 and I’m told the chances of it coming back are fairly slim. Just dealing with ED and the trying to stay positive and grateful. There is a sense of mourning the loss of sexual function which may still return, its still early days in that regard, but it is a challenge. Like I’ve said before in other posts, I’m trying to make it an adventure! At any rate I find it useful to check in here and being in contact with others is comforting.
All the best

Making it an adventure. Thats a great outlook. Thanks for sharing that with me. I've been pretty negative about this so far. Making it an adventure is something I can run with. Thanks Davey. Hang in there.
RE: mourning the loss
Davey1957 Had RARP 28 months ago. Last 4-6 months began to have AM wood. Having some difficulty consistently staying erect thru abbreviated intercourse so will use trimix injection (began to use at ~ 24 months. If I had a redo I'd have started trimix at 3 months.
