So I'm 48 and was diagnosed back in Feb. After dealing with insurance issues, opted to go out of network to Johns Hopkins and had robotic surgery 7/5. Surgeon said it look encapsulated, but waiting on the biopsy. Back home and resting, and found this group. So far catheter is not as bad as I was imagining, but 8 days to go with that!

Good luck and happy healing! I remember the day well when I was in your shoes. At your age of 48 you will do well. Three years ago I was 49 when I had my RP with inguenal hernia repairs. I was back to running in 3 weeks. Good luck!

Glad that you found us. J Hopkins is a great place to have been treated. Hopefully the post surgical PSA will be undetectable.

Newbie, good for you in doing the right thing at your age. And I feel your comment about the catheter. Had mine in for 16 days. Good Luck!

All the very best.

Glad to hear you're doing well! As the doc said with robotic you feel worse right after surgery and it gets better day by day. Wishing you speedy recovery and trifecta results!

Great news! You will have good days and bad days with your recovery...just remember the great news you recieved today. You got it early brother...not many of us here have been so lucky. Are you planning to continue to have follow up PSA tests? I would recommend especially if you had any intermediate or high risk factors. At least for the next 5 years minimum. Study your final pathology report and understand the details. I hope you never have to refer to the pathology report again. It's helpful to share your pre and post pathology info on this forum. There are many guys out there comparing statistics and wondering what the future holds for them. Congrats again on the great news.

All best wishes for a quick recovery. I had robotic prostetectomy 1/13 at age 70, Had to have catheter reinserted after a blood clot. Painful ER session. No return of that problem. My advice, be sure and follow any and all instructions regarding blood clots.

Whew! You are younger than I was. Good luck in the healing process. You alluded to other issues. First and foremost is learning how to pee again. It took me three months to figure it out.
