Just found out the cancer has returned after 7 years. He is positive he is fine, me, I am a little numb, scared and feeling guilty that I don't feel as positive as him. We had an MRI and it showed cancer on rt. lobe of prostate, haven't been to dr yet for biopsies, staging, etc. Since he had radiation last time for his Gleason 7 & 8, he cannot have gave it again. Do now we weigh the options. What have the options been for recurring cancer?

Hi Oakwood3 It's OK to feel scared....we're all scared. the feeling may change in intensity, but after my husband got diagnosed, it never went away. I think that is true for everyone here.

Thank you. We just got back from Dr.. We discussed our options, and have scheduled a biopsy to find out Gleason scores, etc. He is pushing for Cyro, but we want to weigh our choices. Depending on the kind of cancer, maybe a wait and see will be fine. We are very much into natural approaches. We want to explore those also. But the fear is still there, even if i cover it up. i don't know if it is fear of his death or what....i just don't know. Sure glad i have a strong faith. Thank you for your reply.

Hi Oakwood3,

I understand you. It was very difficult for me to find out when my husband had cancer the first time in 2010. He had prostatectomy. We were able to have some relief ( "exept for the ugly feeling you get in your stomach when waiting for the Dr to tell you the PSA results") almost 3 years with undetectable PSA. Until it rose to 0.5 probably I felt worst then the first time. He had 37 radiations but the PSA never drop. The PSA in July 2017, was 8.7 and right now he's on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, plus chemotherapy. PSA 0.1

I know is not easy what you are going through but there's hope. I do feel fear sometimes, but my faith in God keeps me strong.

It's great to know your husband is very positive.. mine is too, that helps a lot! Let us know how you both are doing. I wish you the best.

Sincerely,

Erika.💛

Hi Oakwood3, I live in Oakwood, Ga.

My husband has had pCa for 17 years. I would love to find a local support group.

I hate that Cancer has effected every decision in our lives for 17 years and I dread the unknown and how it will end for my husband...can I handle his care at the end, the pain and suffering...then being alone.

We downsized, simplified, moved to a level floor plan and nearer our children perhaps for some help at the end. That was not the plan pre-cancer.

I try not to whine or dwell on the situation so thanks for listening.

i know what you mean. The cancer affects not on the patient, but the whole family. Every thing is decided about how it affects the cancer. What to eat, what to take, who to tell and on and on. But today is a new day and i choose to be joyful this day, maybe not tomorrow, but just for this day i will be joyful and pass it on so it will be returned to me.

Just received back our biopsy reports from his recurring cancer. It is Gleason7 (4+3). we knew it was there because of the MRI, but didn't know Gleason score yet. Waiting to see the dr next week so we can decide our plan of action. Hubby is very positive that things will be just fine. Attitude makes such a difference when confronted with cancer. Just wanted to share the news so far. Thank you for this site.
