I'm new here and to online groups. If this isn't the right place for these questions maybe someone can point me in the right direction: About six months ago my spouse was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. He's on Lupron and Zytiga; just had radiation to decrease bone pain. He's trying hard to maintain a positive attitude. He's also experiencing lots of fatigue. I know this comes with cutting off testosterone; are there any ways to counteract this effect? Are there any diet adjustments which might help lessen the fatigue? He used to visit the chiropractor often. That's forbidden now (metastases in the spine and ribs). He's experiencing pain from being out of adjustment -- has anybody had experience with yoga and pain relief?
Thanks

Hello Tarzan: My husband is 5 years into the battle. Lupron is brutal - depression, loss of body mass, body pain. My husband received targeted radiation therapy for his bone mets located in ischium. That has been stable. I give Bob calcium supplements for the bone loss that occurs. He does use medical marijuana for pain. I would think that chiropractic would be advised against because of the osteoporosis that can occur with lupron. Though not originally a candidate for brachytherapy (radiation seeds) because of mets he had such negative effects from long term lupron use he recently had the procedure to get him off lupron. He had a pet scan which showed the cancer was still limited to prostate area so they approved it. We are hoping for the best. Look at other hospitals for different therapies and clinical trials. My hearts goes out to you it is a tough road.
In the early days of my treatment, I found that use of a treadmill (with moderation) was useful in reducing fatigue. After several treatments over the last 15 years, I just completed a treatment with Lupron.
Thank you for the reply. Bill recently had targeted radiation therapy for bone pain. He didn't think his pain was caused by the cancer, but the pain has decreased quite a bit since treatment. Thanks for the info about Lupron--a lot to look into.
Just for info, here is a summary of my treatments: Robotic prostate surgery in April 2005, Radiation to prostate bed in Dec. 2006, Lupron 2 times (several months each), and Cryogenic freezing of metastic cancer in the Pubic bone, followed by Lupron from June 2019 to Dec. 2019. I experienced moderate side-effects, hot flashes, and fatigue. My PSA went down to 0.058.
