I am 6 weeks pregnant and never been so tired. I slept for 12 hours last night and only woke up because my fiancé woke me lol. Is this normal or do I need to take something? Thank you in advance x

Tired???
Lol, join the club, since I have been pregnant 23 weeks tomorrow, I have been exhausted! The weird thing for me but common in pregnancy is that I don't sleep straight through, I was up every few hours, apparently this is the body's way of getting ready for baby.
Make sure you are taking pregnancy vitamins and drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.
You might find that your heart is beating faster, hence more energy is being used, and also your volume of blood starts to increase. Hence the reason your tired, your body is working double as hard to make your little person
When u are around 10 weeks u will have a midwife appointment, they will check your urine, blood and bp so if u were low in iron it will show then and u might be given iron supplements.
Good luck x
Hey, gotta love those hormones! I do believe that bad boy Progesterone is responsible for the extreeme tiredness! During these very was early weeks extreeme is the word I would use, it does improve as your body becomes accustomed and more changes occur. Roll with it and give in to your body when you can, I am the opposite at the mo as nearing the end of 1st trimester, I sleep for about 5-6 hrs at night then I am fully awake, had to take a nap yesterday afternoon but not sure I can get away with that at work lol. Download prefs much app to phone, you put in your dates and if will help you understand what's going in week to week and its been pretty accurate for me, finally....Congratulations x
Thanks so much to both of you, don't feel so lazy now lol x x
No you're definitely not lazy! I like my sleep anyway, but since being pregnant, it's like I'm a teenager again! I sleep late, I sometimes need naps in the afternoon (luckily I work for myself) and sometimes I'm falling asleep on the sofa at 7pm. As the others said, it's your body working hard to make the baby & the placenta. I've read the tiredness gets better after 12-13 weeks, as the placenta is fully formed by then & takes over hormone production. Just try to give your body what it's asking for, even if it means going to bed as soon as you get home from work! Good luck & congrats!
totally normal. I have never experienced tiredness like it, all I wanted to do was sleep and sleep and sleep!! once you are into your 2nd trimester, you will start to pick up and feel human again!
Yep - it's like being hit by a train of tiredness! I'm 10 weeks along and have been sleeping from half nine/ten right through til 8 am, with one trip to the loo on average per night (that will come!). Also make sure you drink loads - I've never been so thirsty and although I need the loo more the volume is much less so the sproglet is clearly using up all the liquids it can!
