Baby aspirin

Hi. I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant via IVF and after my first blood test via midwife, I’ve had a call from my Drs and been asked to take 75mg x2 aspirin from week 12 as the midwife has requested it?

Does anyone know why this would be? Or anyone took similar? I’ve heard of 1 x 75mg a day but not 2?

I’m currently away but will be emailing midwife when I get home, but hoped someone might know reasons In the meantime.

Thanks for reading.

I'm on 150g (2x75g) and have been since 12 weeks. I've been told to stop at 36 weeks. Mines due to my age as I'm 41 and it improves blood flow to the placenta.

I am also on 150mg aspirin, once a day since I was 12 weeks. My midwife said it was because it's my first pregnancy and an IVF pregnancy. RCOG and NICE have released guidance about it. It also helps reduce the risk of pre-eclampsia as well as the improving blood flow x

I don't know when it changed. With my first pregnancy it was 75mg. I'm currently pregnant again and been asked to take 150mg which is the norm now.

NICE guidelines say 75-150mg. In our area 150 is standard but I’m taking 75 by choice due to chronic history of stomach ulcers, hiatus hernia, reflux etc. I never take aspirin normally as it’s far too gastroirritant for me. I assume some recent research shows 150 is a little more effective but I had to balance that against personal factors. Xx

I’m also an IVF patient and on 150mg a day too - as I believe we’re higher risk of developing pre-eclampsia. It didn’t sit well with me at first so I understand how you feel. It’s been fine for me though, I’m almost 39 weeks and so far so good! If you feel uncomfortable definitely speak to your midwife to help settle your nerves. Good luck!

I took it from advice from the recurrent miscarriage clinic and I just gave birth 14 days ago so I believed this helped me get to term.

Helps with blood flow to uterus aswell.

Hope all goes well x
