Not sure about the iron but both my pregnancies is stopped aspirin at 36 weeks (non IVF). It's done it's job by now and there is a risk of increased bleeding if you go into early labour as it takes 5 to 7 days to clear from your system.
you do stop any blood thinners/asprin etc near birth (ivf or not) in a lot of cases. Its to stop any excessive bleeding during labour. They did give me clexane to start a few days after birth again to prevent any clots.
I don’t know when I stopped iron I think it might have been 38 weeks but I was on higher dose and liquid iron as wanted to get mine up before birth as my reserves were very low (I was getting dizzy spells too from about 32 weeks) so I think it will depend what your bloods are showing as they will likely have a ‘sweet spot’ for that.
You are nearly there 🤗 hope the next few weeks go quick for you! Xx
I am taking baby aspirin due to IVF pregnancy and have been told I’ll stop also at 36 wks for the same reasons as mentioned above x good luck for the next few weeks 🤍
Hi yesblood thinners should be stopped at around 36 weeks this is to stop excessive bleeding during delivery. You could ask for an iron blood test and see what your levels are before stopping but sometimes they ask so you are not too constipated after birth. Wishing you all the best for the delivery.. you are nearly at the finishing line. All the best x
Same here, stopped aspirin close to the birth due to bleeding risk. I wasn't on iron but I actually lost so much blood during the c-section (without being on aspirin! Bit ironic, but maybe it would have been much worse if I had been) they gave me iron injections for the first couple of weeks - think it's quite normal for them to check iron levels post birth and prescribe injections or tablets *but* stock up on something like fybogel to combat the constipation/difficult bowel movements you get anyway post birth, compounded by iron - sounds trivial but trust me you do.not want to be constipated at that particular point.
Same here, have been advised to stop at 36wks. I am also on iron tablets and I do not intend to stop these as I am vegetarian and I need them to maintain levels as I plan on breastfeeding as well.
Hey, I had a non IVF high risk pregnancy and I was put on the same dose from week 12 and was also going to come off them at week 36 as advised by my consultant but babba came unexpectedly at week 35 so naturally stopped. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy xx
