Loss of bladder sensation post birth

Hi All,

Not a question here but I wanted to get this on the board incase anyone has been struggling.

I had my baby 3 weeks ago via forceps after being induced, and I’ve only just got the sensation back in my bladder that I need to pass urine.

Up until now, I’ve been going to pee every 2 hours as advised by Triage, and drinking as much water as I can to flush out any infection. Also I was advised to do pelvic floor exercises.

When I spoke to the midwife and gp and triage dr’s about this loss of sensation, I was told it would come back eventually, and that it was common but usually only last a few days, not a few weeks like I experienced. I was also asked repeatedly if I’d had a catheter, which I did due to epidural, so this seemed to be the cause of loss of sensation but it was so frustrating that none of the health professionals could advise anything other than keep peeing and pelvic floor exercises when weeks had passed with no changes.

I’m now 23 days pp and I’m getting back to normal.

Hopefully this will help someone on this topic not to be discouraged if you can’t find any other help like I couldn’t. Hang in there x
