Four weeks post-natal - frequent overnight bathroom visits

Bit of a TMI post but I figured if anyone could advise it would be this forum.

I had a baby 4 weeks ago but am still getting up 2-3 times each night to wee. My pelvic floor is shot to pieces but these are substantial wees, not just down to a weak bladder; it’s like I’ve drank loads overnight when I haven’t. Could I still have a bit of fluid to lose even this point after birth?

Thanks in advance. x

Yeah I think it’s pretty normal. It took about 6 weeks for me before I felt like anything was starting to recover and even 15 months later I feel like I wee more frequently. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve stopped doing the pelvic floor exercises though! I reckon you’ll notice a difference if you start doing the exercises xx

Hi Sarah, yeh I do the exercises but probably not often enough. Like i say my PF is poor but these are massive wees like I’ve drank loads when I haven’t. Will maybe ask the health visitor this week. It sounds normal I suppose 😂 xx

Hiya. Guess you had a vaginal delivery? Id either ring the gp or the hv and ask. I had a c section but no change in peeing.

Definately not uti symptoms?

You can self refer for physio I think up to 12 weeks post natal. They've given me a electronic pelvic floor trainer and also had to keep bladder diary and looking at ways to help retrain bladder post pregnancy x

This is great to know, thank you! x

I read you’re still losing fluid for a month and I think that was true of me. I was also drinking a lot more though as breastfeeding made me thirsty!
