I have had vomiting throughout my pregnancy, everyone I knew kept telling me it would get better at week 14, then 16 etc. I am 18 weeks tomorrow and still having bad sickness. I am taking cyclozine which can help providing I don’t vomit it up. I am currently ill with a cold and it seems to have exacerbated my sickness. I have been sick on myself several times today by accident when coughing (yes I know, good prep for when baby arrives but I could do without the lack of dignity right now), haven’t been able to keep any food or drink down. Tell me, anyone else who was still suffering this badly at 18 weeks, does it get better? I keep saying it’s fine, but actually it’s exhausting, I work in a hospital and keep having to take sick days or hide the fact that I keep being sick at work. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all right now!

Hi! I had hyperemesis gravidarum and I was sick til 20 weeks in my first pregnancy and 30 in my second. Cyclizine is only a first line drug so you can ask to try others . I went only odansetron which was much more effective. My second pregnancy I got signed off work at 5 weeks and never went back. The nausea finally went when I gave birth. It went at 30ish weeks first time. If you have severe morning sickness or HG annoyingly it can last much longer than the 1st trimester.the pregnancy support sickness website is good and the Hg Facebook groups x
Aww bless you, I was exactly the same when I had my little one last year. I was sick several times a day from week 6 to week 35 when she arrived unexpectedly early. I was given the same tablets as you but there was also another one I was prescribed which I can’t remember the name of but will try and find out the name off. Like you I couldn’t keep water down some days and spent most of my pregnancy in bed working from home as it was lockdown at the the time it made me feel so miserable and ungrateful but it was so hard I used to have to stick my head in the supermarket freezer when shopping and drive with all the windows open in fact I had to throw up over myself several times when driving as it was too dangerous to stop so I feel your pain. I know it’s hard and not really that comforting but I was also told at every appointment and extra scan (high risk pregnancy) that it was a good sign and a positive so I used to try and think of that on the days I spent most of the day on the bathroom floor. Moral of my story do go back to the doctor you shouldn’t have to suffer like this must be so hard especially working in a hospital. Good luck xx
