Hello ladies

All your answers are very important to me. My baby is in breech position so we decided to go for c-section and this is my first pregnancy. I just want to know what kind of anesthesia they will give me. Because someone told me they inject into your spine. So I'm a little nervous because it's making me feel uncomfortable. Can you please tell me is there any other anesthesia option.

Hi, they give you an injection into your spine, but it's fairly painless and very quick, you're really best off speaking to your midwife about it, they can explain everything to you and talk you through the process of an elective C-section.The NHS website has a lot of info on what happens

They start you on an epidural (injection into the spine). They aren’t too uncomfortable. In a small number of cases the epidural doesn’t work and you need a general anaesthetic. Xx

Hi lovely, I too had to have a csection with my first pregnancy and the spinal was fine for me. I could be wrong but although they inject into the spine it’s not the epidural you can request during labour it’s a different type of needle. When mine was done the surgeon said I shouldn’t feel anything and if I did let him know so he could adjust. It was painless which I was shocked about so I understand why your nervous I felt the same. I agree I would talk to your midwife about it and she should be able to ease your nerves by answering any questions they have. On the day too they explain everything which I felt put me more at ease. Xxx

Hi

With me they put a local anaesthetic into my back first to numb the area. They then put in a needle that delivered a spinal block. If you are having a spinal block they will moved you around in the bed and it needs to be manually distributed through your body

You won’t feel a thing
