I have a 3 year old boy, who is speech delayed and currently on the waiting list for speech and language therapy as well as autism check.
I've only just started to attempt potty training but really struggling as he doesn't talk and even when I take him toilet he just sits there and laughs.
He has a poop in his nappy and takes his dirty nappy off but other than that I haven't managed to get a wee or poo in the potty or toilet.
Anyone else going through the same?

Hi Odete, I worked in a school with non verbal autistic children. There was this one boy who they helped with potty training by putting underwear on and a nappy on top. Nappies are too good nowadays that they don't become a bother when wet. By having the underwear inside the nappy he felt the wetness and started to not want that. Reusable nappies will probably work too for this tactic, but might not work for every child. I just realised that your question was from a while ago. I hope that all goes well on your journey with your child.
